\r\nInnovation and Social
\r\nDesign Engineering<\/h2>\r\n

With climate change progressing and the social structure and situation changing drastically,
\r\nKIT, as the only technical university located in the Okhotsk region of Hokkaido,
\r\na region which depends strongly on the primary industries, the school aims to challenge
\r\nand solve regional problems from an engineering point of view choosing
\r\nthe Okhotsk region as the model area.
\r\nThe school actively works to achieve results, utilize the results for regional revitalization,
\r\nand cultivate skills to create a future design of an attractive region providing
\r\n“safety and security”
\r\nand to be able to expand this globally.
\r\nThe school reflects these characteristic efforts in its educational setting and concretely
\r\nshows students the process from “excavation” to “solution” of the problems.
\r\nThe school strives to train students who think independently with a sense of purpose
\r\nand who apply their skills. Students graduating from the school will have learned various
\r\nproblem solving processes and acquired skills to not only play an active role
\r\nin the Okhotsk region
\r\nor Hokkaido, but also throughout Japan and the world.
